This International Women’s Day (Friday, 8 March 2024), Holland & Barrett and Wellbeing of Women announce the extension of their successful Women’s Health Community Fund, donating an additional £50,000 to support women’s health-focused projects up and down the country, and help to support thousands more women in underserved communities.

Launched in October last year, the fund has already supported 13 projects that work to engage underrepresented and disadvantaged groups in menopause awareness and support. Over 650 beneficiaries took part in 35 in-person or online events or workshops, which also resulted in an indirect reach of over 3,000 individuals looking to break the barriers of the menopause conversation.

Extending the fund for a further two years will help support Wellbeing of Women and Holland & Barrett’s joint mission of improving women’s health education, with a particular focus on supporting women through all life-stages from their first period to their last and beyond.

Lina Chan, Director of Women’s Health at Holland & Barrett said: “We’ve already seen great success from our partnership with Wellbeing of Women and the fund, but we know there’s more to be done to support even more women. At Holland & Barrett, we are on a mission to increase education and access, break down stigmas, whilst offering women a safe space to go for support at all life-stages from menstruation to menopause and beyond. We hope that by extending our fund we are able to provide more inclusive support to more women through local initiatives.”

Janet Lindsay, Chief Exec of Wellbeing of Women, comments: “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Holland & Barrett and the important work to improve menstrual health education from within local communities with the Women’s Health Community Fund. More funding for community groups and leaders will offer a trusted and safe space to discuss women’s health issues and break down the shame, stigma and silence, which is key to empowering women to get the help they need”.

As part of its mission to continue opening up the conversation around women’s health, Holland & Barrett is also supporting the exclusive national screenings of Below The Belt, a film about endometriosis by Director Shannon Cohn executive produced by Hillary Clinton and Rosario Dawson in partnership with Everyman Cinema, to celebrate International Women’s Day. The powerful documentary exposes widespread problems in our healthcare systems that disproportionately affect women, with the 12 exclusive screenings across the country raising funds for Below the Belt’s Impact Campaign and Wellbeing of Women.

Followed by panel discussions on chronic conditions and how to make health inclusive, this documentary exposes widespread problems that disproportionately affect women.

New applications for the Holland & Barrett’s Women’s Health Community Fund with Wellbeing of Women will open in April. For more information, visit: https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/the-health-hub/wellbeing-of-women-x-holland-barrett/.
