Holland & Barrett, the UK’s leading health and wellness retailer, is set to open the doors to its first H&B Experience Store on Thursday 20th March on Cardiff’s Queen Street, voted the UK’s best high street. The 3710sq.ft store, making it H&B’s largest store to date, comes complete with a fresh look and feel, boasting even more of Holland & Barrett’s latest range of health and wellness solutions and brand-first immersive experiences.
Following customer insights pointing to demand for immersive experiences, Cardiff will host H&B’s first wellbeing studio to offer customers a holistic experience, including yoga and Pilates. The Experience Store will also offer health checks and blood testing through its partnership with Randox to identify concerns like high cholesterol, and an in-store H&B&Me pod will help customers to learn their biological age and discover healthy habits to support their long-term health and wellbeing.
To celebrate the opening, customers can enjoy 20% off in-store from 28th March until 11th April by quoting CARDIFF20 at checkout. Between the 28th-30th March, the first 50 Rewards for Life customers** will receive a goodie bag worth over £100, filled with three recipes containing over 30 plant points, showcasing the new food range crafted by H&B’s expert nutritionists and chefs. There will be further chances for everyone to win prizes across the 28th-30th March* with live music in-store and sampling opportunities.
Lisa Janik, Store Manager at Holland & Barrett Cardiff, said: "We’re thrilled to launch Holland & Barrett’s first Experience Store. We look forward to offering the community access to an immersive wellbeing studio, hosted by local community instructors and a conversational wellness hub to speak to our friendly and knowledgeable team who will be on hand to offer expert advice and help customers find exactly what they need to accomplish their health goals.”
H&B’s Cardiff team of expert colleagues are all qualified to advise customers to offer personalised support, which will also include a Women’s Health Coach to offer a deeper level of expertise and confidential support on hormone health. Customers can expect a new wellness hub in the centre of the store as a conversational space for advice with Cardiff’s expert team with additional consultation rooms for privacy.
The store is part of H&B’s ongoing evolution towards becoming a first-choice wellness partner, supporting customers with their personal health & wellness goals, forming part of a £70 million investment into transforming stores, technology and new product development with insights from this new Experience Store, set to inform future store concepts. Its impressive store programme is not slowing down, throughout FY25 H&B is investing in at least one store a day in a store refresh and refurbishment program across UK & Ireland.
Nick Gerrard, Property & Format Director at Holland & Barrett, said: “The H&B Experience Store is another step in our transformation of H&B’s store estate across UK and Ireland. We look forward to trialling new concepts and immersive experiences alongside an even wider range of wellness solutions with our largest store to date. The insights we will gain from our Experience Store will inform future store concepts and continue connecting communities with our fantastic customer experience in stores.”
Holland & Barrett’s store transformation extends beyond layout and merchandising, with new technology a significant part of its store upgrade programme, with in house-built tech solutions for customers in store, including the industry-leading ‘Cerebro’, which tangibly supports colleagues to have deeper connections and conversations with customers about their wellness. The Cardiff store is integrating self-checkout & in-aisle payment, offering convenience for quick, grab-and-go purchases while maintaining a strong serviced checkout presence to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Sustainability is at the heart of the new store, which has been refitted using mild steel, a 100% recyclable material, along with FSC certified wood. LED powered lighting has also been designed to be more efficient, reduce energy consumption and cut carbon emissions. Through H&B’s store transformation programme, recycled materials have been used where possible from old stores to minimise waste.
The store is located at Holland & Barrett, 53 – 57 Queen Street, Cardiff, CF10 2AS.
