- Initiative forms part of the three-year Women’s Wellness Commitment -
Holland & Barrett, the nation’s leading health and wellness retailer, has announced the extension of its dedicated FREE Menopause Nurse Helpline for a third year, following a 144 per cent increase in year-on-year demand for appointment bookings.
First launched in 2023, in partnership with leading menopause campaign group, Menopause Mandate, the helpline gives women access to a free 15-minute one-to-one online video appointment with a trained Menopause Nurse. Through the helpline, women can access evidence-based medical advice on perimenopause and menopause symptoms, answers to common questions on medication, as well as support on how to prepare for a GP consultation.
In addition to the one-year extension, and to meet the increased demand experienced in October (World Menopause Month), the retailer has also increased appointments by 40% throughout October and November, offering even more access to expert advice and personalised support during a crucial time for many.
Lina Chan, Director of Missions, Holland & Barrett said: “We recognise that every menopause journey is unique. But the one thing that remains consistent is the need for accessible, empathetic, and expert support. That’s why we’re proud to be extending our H&B Menopause Helpline for another year, in partnership with Menopause Mandate. We’re also inviting women to come into our stores and speak to one of our 600 dedicated Women’s Health Coaches for guidance on nutrition, gut health, sleep, mood and more.”
Laura Biggs, Founder of Menopause Mandate said: “At Menopause Mandate, we’re committed to driving real change in how menopause is understood, supported, and prioritised in the UK. The increasing demand for helpline appointment bookings clearly demonstrates that women are searching for the support. We’re thrilled that our partners at Holland & Barrett are extending the free helpline to help more women get the support and expert guidance they need and deserve.”
Improving women’s health and wellness and access to care and support sits at the heart of Holland & Barrett. The extension of the Menopause Nurse Helpline is one example of how the retailer is on a mission to champion wellness for women and forms part of its three-year Women’s Wellness Commitment. Launched in April last year, the Women’s Wellness Commitment aims to address four key areas in women’s health - democratising access to trusted support, closing the research gap, enabling health equity, leading in product innovation with women in mind.
As part of this, Holland & Barrett is also proud to announce the 2025 cohort of ten charities joining their Women’s Health Community Fund, a fund dedicated to breaking down barriers and improving access to women’s health support in under-served communities across the UK.
Since its launch, the Fund has supported more than 20 grassroots organisations, in delivering 123 activities nationwide which have directly reached more than 10,000 women and girls . From peer-led menopause groups to culturally sensitive menstrual health education, the Fund has helped tackle stigma, improve confidence in managing health, reduce isolation and empower women to advocate for their wellbeing.
The 2025 cohort reflects the same commitment to equity and inclusion, with projects spanning Leicester, Bradford, Sheffield, South Wales, Liverpool, Oldham, Hartlepool, Brighton, Kingston upon Thames, and Aberdeen.
